Job Description: Creative Arts & Science Technology Program Assistant

The West Fargo Park District is excited to announce it has an opening for the Creative Arts & Science Technology Program Assistant role. This part-time position is perfect for a dynamic and creative individual who has a passion for art, science, theater, and community engagement. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a supervising Recreation Specialist and Program Coordinator to design and implement engaging, interactive classes and camps that benefit the West Fargo community.

Position Overview:
During the fall and winter months, this role offers approximately 5 to 10 hours per week. The focus will be on class preparation, instruction, and organizing special events related to science technology and creative arts programming. These hours will be scheduled from September through mid-May and include sporadic weekday evenings and weekends, with the possibility of some weeks having no scheduled hours. For those interested in additional opportunities, there will be options to take on extra hours through various programs within the park district.

If you opt to continue working through the summer, the position will remain part-time but will increase to approximately 30 to 40 hours per week. Summer responsibilities will encompass class preparation, instruction, and involvement in special events related to creative arts and science technology programming from June to mid-August. These hours will primarily be scheduled during weekdays and occasionally on weekday evenings, with further opportunities for additional hours through other programming initiatives within the park district.


Key Responsibilities:
As a Creative Arts & Science Technology Program Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Class and Camp Preparation: Assist in the preparation and delivery of classes and camps that focus on creative arts and science technology.
  • Supervision: Take attendance and supervise participants, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Material Distribution: Distribute supplies and materials necessary for class activities and assist with setup and cleanup before and after sessions.
  • Participant Engagement: Guide participants in various activities, ensuring they remain engaged and excited about the programming.
  • Support: Provide support to Program Coordinators and partner organizations to enhance the overall quality and effectiveness of the programs offered.
  • Safety Assurance: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by maintaining a vigilant and proactive approach.
  • Positive Experience: Foster a positive recreational experience for participants of diverse abilities, behaviors, and backgrounds.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following qualifications:

  • Commitment: You must be able to commit to the West Fargo Park District for the entire fall/winter season, from September to mid-May. Weekend hours are required.
  • Multitasking and Adaptability: Strong multitasking abilities, adaptability to changing environments, and effective problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Experience with Children: You should have experience and a genuine enjoyment of working with children of various ages and backgrounds.
  • Classroom Management: The ability to manage a classroom effectively while fostering a fun and relaxed atmosphere for participants is crucial.
  • Technology Proficiency: Basic proficiency in computer systems, smart TVs, and other technology tools is required.
  • Physical Capability: You must have the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing or seated for extended periods.
