The West Fargo Park District is excited to announce an opening for the Creative Arts & Science Technology Program Assistant position. This part-time role is perfect for a dynamic and creative individual with a passion for art, science, theater, and community engagement. Collaborate with our Recreation Specialist and Program Coordinator to design and implement engaging classes and camps for the West Fargo community!

Position Overview

In the summer (June through mid-August), the position offers 30-40 hours per week. Responsibilities expand to class preparation, instruction, and special event support for creative arts and science technology programming, with most hours scheduled on weekdays and some weekday evenings.

Key Responsibilities

● Class and Camp Preparation: Assist in preparing and delivering classes and camps centered on creative arts and science technology.

● Supervision: Take attendance and supervise participants to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

● Material Distribution: Distribute supplies for class activities and help with setup and cleanup.

● Participant Engagement: Guide participants in activities, ensuring they are engaged and excited about the programs.

● Program Support: Provide assistance to Program Coordinators and partner organizations to improve the quality and effectiveness of programs.

● Safety Assurance: Ensure participant safety through vigilant and proactive supervision.

● Positive Experience: Create an inclusive, enjoyable experience for participants of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Work Schedule

● Summer (June through mid-August): Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 1:30 pm, occasional evenings.

Qualifications

● Commitment: Available during the Summer months (June through mid-August), with some required evening hours.

● Adaptability: Strong multitasking, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.

● Experience with Children: Enjoys working with children from diverse backgrounds.

● Classroom Management: Ability to manage a classroom while fostering a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

● Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with computer systems, smart TVs, and other technology tools.

● Physical Capability: Able to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing or seated for long periods.

Ideal Candidate

A creative and enthusiastic individual dedicated to enriching children’s lives through arts and science. Strong communication skills and a positive attitude are essential. Experience in education, theater, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
